Storage

Store properly in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C. Protect from direct sunlight, rain and water.

Uses

Obaproof Oba EasyCoat WP will bridge pre-existing static hair-line cracks and is effective for waterproofing the following areas:
• Terraces and balconies
• RC gutters
• Bathroom floors and walls
• Planter boxes

Surface Preparation

Concrete, mortar and masonry surfaces must be clean, free from grease, oil and loosely adhering particles. Absorbent surfaces have to be thoroughly saturated with water prior to application of first coat of Obaproof Oba EasyCoat WP. However, no loose standing water should be on the surface before application. All intersections of horizontal and vertical surfaces should be profiled with a mortar fillet of 25 mm x 25 mm. Note: Obaproof Oba EasyCoat WP will not bond to surfaces that have been treated previously with water repellent.

Application

Whilst the substrate is still damp from saturation, apply the first coat. Leave to harden for approximately 4-8 hours at temperatures above 20°C before applying the second coat. For slurry consistency, apply with a hard plastic bristle brush or broom. For floor applications, to avoid the risk of damage to the first coat, it is recommended that the second coat be applied after 24 hours. If the second coat is applied 12 hours or later, the first coat shall be slightly pre-wetted, preferably by using a fine spray. After the second coat has been applied, better finishing can be achieved by rubbing down with a soft, dry sponge. Obaproof Oba EasyCoat WP can also be applied by trowel or by spraying. For more details, please refer to our Technical Service Department.

Curing Time

Special curing methods are generally not required but some precautions should be taken for applications done directly under sunlight and windy conditions. It should be protected from direct rain for at least 4 hours.

Coverage

• Waterproofing of bathrooms, terraces, and balconies: 1.0 kg/m per coat, minimum 2 coats.
• Waterproofing coating up to 1 m Waterhead: 1.5 kg/m per coat, minimum 2 coats.
• Waterproofing coating more than 1 m Waterhead: 2.0 kg/m per coat, minimum 2 coats.
Note: Obaproof Oba EasyCoat WP must be applied in a minimum of 2 coats. 3 coats may be required in areas of extremely high infiltration.

Overcoating

For overcoating with cementitious materials, allow the second coat to harden for atleast 3 days prior to overcoating.
For overcoating with non-cementitious materials, please refer to our Technical Service Department.

Mixing

Under normal circumstances, when the full quantities of both parts are mixed together, a slurry consistency will result. The consistency of the mix can be altered by reducing the amount of Part A (liquid) to be used. For a trowelable consistency, use only 90% of Part A (4 kg). Mix in a clean container by slowly adding Part B (16kg) to Part A and stir with a low-speed mixer. Use within 30 minutes.

Note

• Never apply more than 4kg/m² of Obaproof Oba EasyCoat WP in a single layer.
• Apply only to clean, sound substrates – surfaces should be well dampened but free of surface water and leaks.
• Minimum ambient and substrate temperature is 8°C.
• Obaproof Oba EasyCoat WP is not a decorative treatment and may display signs of ‘blooming’ in damp weather conditions. This does not affect the quality of the coating in any way.

Cleaning of Tools

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened and/or cured material can only be mechanically removed.
